Press brake handling consists of bending metal sheets using industrial machines called press brakes. This is a very common process in the industry and traditionally manual operation since the plates have to be handled individually to be placed in the press brake, making this process quite slow.
The objective of automation in the bending process is to maximize production and increase its efficiency, increase product quality and the cost-benefit ratio of the investment, in addition to minimizing energy consumption, raw materials and noise emission of any kind and the improvement of security conditions.
In this process, which is done completely automatically and in synchronization with the press brake, the robot handles the plate from the entry pallet with the stacked plates to the exit with the plate already formed, without the need for operator intervention. It is also possible to use an external axial axis to enlarge the working area of the robot. The Yaskawa Motoman product range is made up of robots that can have manipulable plate weights up to 300 kg including the gripper.
We also highlight here the offline programming, which allows the simulation and the teaching of the robot in a virtual environment, which can be exported to the equipment, thus minimizing production downtime.
