One year after the GP8 robot won the Red Dot Award in the Product Design category, MotoMINI was voted the winner in the same category this year.
The smallest and lightest 6-axis robot in the industry and, respectively, the smallest model in the entire range of Yaskawa Motoman robots, has received the Red Dot Award 2019 in the Product Design category.
With just 7 kg, the MotoMini has a range of 350 mm, can withstand a payload of 500 g and depending on the operating conditions or workpiece being processed the robot can be used flexibly and application-specific.
With a compact design, it is ideal for handling small workpieces and components, but of course also for assembly work in small production machines , increasing the productivity of the entire production process.
The robot is thus in alignment with Yaskawa's strategy of "built-to-order" products that satisfy the requirements of today's of Industrie 4.0.
The Red Dot Award
The Red Dot Award: Product Design is one of the world's largest design competitions. In 2019, designers and manufacturers from 55 countries entered more than 5,500 products in the competition. The international jury comprises experienced experts from different disciplines and has been convening for more than 60 years in order to select the year's best designs.
During a multi-day evaluation process that focuses on criteria such as the level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, longevity and ergonomics, the products are tested and discussed by the jury who comes to a reasoned decision about the design quality of all products.
The design quality is the common factor for all the award-winning products in their categories, which year after year define the main trends of the design industry and show the new trends of the future.
